Frequently Asked Questions

We are a small family owned rabbitry located in the Mount Eliza Woodlands, Victoria, Australia. Our Mini Lops are not only our pets, they bring us so much joy we decided to pay it forward by raising little lives for other families to enjoy. We interact with all of our bunnies daily, through every milestone starting at birth. Our goal is to aid in developing social skills as well as help familiarize them to know and trust human love. We don't always have enough bunnies for everyone and we realise that you may have to adopt a bunny from a different breeder. Below are some questions that we are frequently asked:

Q: What breed of bunnies do you raise?

A: We are solely dedicated to raising Mini Lops. Our baby kits are handled and cuddled daily from birth by our family and 3 children to ensure calm temperaments. They live in large pens with plenty of space. Kits are ready to buy at around 8-9 weeks of age.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. Post code 3930. Located only 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD in the beautiful little town of Mount Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula. Our bunnies get lots of fresh air on almost an acre in the eucalyptus woodlands. You must come to Mount Eliza and pick up your bunny once they are old enough to adopt.  No shipping, no mailing, no delivery. We place notification of all available bunnies to adopt on our social media pages regularly.

Q: How much are your bunnies?

A: Our prices are as follows;

$150 for both gender of ruby eyed bunnies, broken coloration or chinchilla

$200 for both gender in all other colourations including black, blue (grey), fawn and white. Some rabbit colours are rarer than others, and are harder to come by.

Q: What are in your Mini Lop Adoption Kits?

A: All baby mini lops rabbits come with an Adoption Kit that includes:

  • Information Booklet and bunny tote bag
  • Bunny Birth Certificate and family history chart
  • Homegrown Lavender bag to scent bedding or bunny house (home grown)
  • health check, bottoms clean and free of discharge or parasites
  • nails trimmed, mite treated and wormed
  • small bag of hay
  • ongoing support
  • Mini Lop Colouring sheets 10x

Q: What is a Mini Lops average size full grown?

A: The Mini lop breed has a weight range of 1.6 kg to 2.5 kg. A mini lop should reach its adult weight by the time it is nine to ten months old. It is worth noting before that the size and growth rate may vary slightly from rabbit to rabbit. However, the size of your bunny’s parents, their diet, overall genetics play a large role in your bunny's weight when fully grown.

Q: Does my bunny come with a Pedigree?

A: Although some of our bunnies are pedigreed, not all are eligible. We are selling bunnies to be pets for lovely families. We do provide you will a family tree chart for 2 generations.

Q: What do I feed my mini lop rabbit?

A: The diet of a mini lop does not differ from that of any other rabbit breed. They require at least 70% of their food intake to be good quality hay. The rest of the diet should be made up of a good balance of leafy greens, vegetables, fruit, and pellets.

Q: How long do Mini Lop rabbits live?

A: Lops are a 7-10 year commitment. Placing the right baby with the right family is our top priority.

Q: What are Mini Lops Personality?

A: Mini Lops are a very friendly and playful breed. They love company, either another bunny or a human. Their gentle temperament and small size make them a great rabbit family pet.

Q: Should I get two bunnies so one isn’t lonely?

A: You do not need to purchase two bunnies. Bunnies do just fine with only human interaction and bonding, as long as you and your family have the proper time to spend with your bunny. If you do not have at least 3+ hours a day to interact with your bunny, you could consider getting a second. Bunnies can start to socially regress without interaction, playtime, or having a grooming mate. Spayed/Neutered Buck and Doe pairs do better, because they can work more harmoniously with each other, rather than developing territorial habits.

Q: Do you have a wait list?

We do work off of a waitlist. We do our best to place babies in the best possible homes with loving and dedicated owners. We spend one on one time with all of our babies, handling them from birth, and socializing them until they are ready to go to their new homes. We do not mass breed and we don't always have enough bunnies for everyone, therefore we realise that you may have to adopt a bunny from a different breeder.

Q: Do you treat your rabbits for worms and parasites?

A: Yes. We treat babies at 6 weeks of age. We treat our entire herd every 4-6 months, or as needed.

Q: Do you offer a health guarantee?

A: Yes. All bunnies purchased from Mount Eliza Mini Lops come with a 5 day health guarantee.

Q: Does my bunny need vaccinations?

A: Yes. Ask your veterinarian about the RHDV2 Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus vaccination. They can get vaccinated from 8 weeks of age and then every 6 months to maintain immunity throughout life.

Q: Will your rabbitry provide advice for the life of my rabbit?

A: Absolutely, however we will refer you to a veterinarian when appropriate.
